Why We Need Your Help
When we founded Iduka, we could have made it into a for-profit crowdfunding platform or a nonprofit charging hefty fees to help students raise funds to pay for their post-secondary education. But we decided to do something different, and we’ve worked hard over the years to create a lean organization.
Now, we need your help to keep this promise and seize the opportunity to do even more for our students. We cannot do that witout building a strong infrastructure.
It is well documented that "organizations that build robust infrastructure—which includes sturdy information technology systems, financial systems, skills training, fundraising processes, and other essential overhead—are more likely to succeed than those that do not. This is not news, and nonprofits are no exception to the rule."¹

How Your Money Makes A Difference
We exist to help underprivileged, underserved and underrepresented students get their education without the burden of having to worry about how they are going to pay for the dream of becoming outstanding members of society and start giving back to their own communities. Your contribution to our operational fund will help us continue building our platform and implementing the right programs so participating students have a chance of becoming entrepreneurial and self-reliant.
Where Your Donation Goes
The reality is that if we don’t pay salaries, utilities, and the few things listed below, we won’t be in business for long, and then nobody in our community will benefit. Thank you for considering investing in:
Technology: Servers, bandwidth, maintenance, development, architecture, and design. Our platform was entirely built by our technology and web design partners on a pro bono basis, and our site is hosted on a server donated by Microsoft. What you see and are using, did not cost us a single dime. Now, we need to build upon what our partners have started and donated so generously for the benefit our students and users like you.
People: Most top crowdfunding platforms have close or over 100 employees. We have none. All our programs have been developed and implemented by volunteers, making your donation a great investment in a highly-efficient and lean start-up nonprofit. We are in the business of making great impact with little resources, but we need to hire staff and train them adequately!
Fundraising processes: To fulfill our mission and better serve sudents in need we must raise more money and be able to adopt the best fundraising strategy. Our ability to effectively fundraise is central to our mission.
Financial systems and procedures: We must adopt a sound financial system and implement good financial management procedures to ensure our organization is fulfilling its stewardship responsibilities.
Office space: We need to pay rent and utilities!
If you believe education is key to alleviate poverty, please consider making a donation in order to protect and sustain what our volunteers and pro bono partners have sowed. This year, please help us sow education, so together we can reap an harvest!
